Decorating a Bedroom with Pier 1 Furniture

I was sorry to hear so many Pier 1 stores are closing. I often walk around the store looking for inspiration, cute gifts, and seasonal decor for upcoming holidays and celebrations. This fall, my daughter will be moving into an unfurnished rental house with some friends for her senior year. Since she needs to buy bedroom furniture, I had some fun thinking about how we could decorate a bedroom entirely with Pier 1 furniture. Here’s hoping it gives you some bedroom decorating inspiration too!

The Bed

When decorating a bedroom, the bed is the first thing to buy. Depending on the size of the room, you need to buy the correct mattress size. Since Julia’s room can accommodate a full-sized bed, I choose this bed. I like it’s simple and clean lines, its light beige color, and the fact that it includes an upholstered headboard! This bed requires a mattress and box spring.

Bedding

Since the bed is neutral in tone, many color schemes pair well. I ultimately decided on a predominantly white and beige theme with touches of blue. White and beige are a soft and relaxing combination, perfect for a bedroom. Plus this white quilt set is on clearance at a great price. It’s a complete set, including a quilt and two shams, and is machine washable. I think the ruching adds some needed texture in such a neutral room.

For color, I would drape this striped, chenille throw blanket at the end of the bed, and add some throw pillows. I like the soothing shade of this “trellis blue” pillow (currently on clearance) or this “mineral blue” pom-pom pillow.

Furniture

A nightstand is a nice piece of furniture to have in a bedroom since it’s a convenient place to hold a book, a drink, or a picture frame. These enamel tables are adorable and come in a few colors: white, navy, black, or yellow. I would love more than one as a collection in the living area but think the large white one could work nicely as a nightstand or a side table in this room. This would be my other nightstand choice. Both options have brass/golden legs which I like for this room.

Rugs & Window Coverings

An area rug gives the room some comfort and texture. Even though the bedroom floor has wall-to-wall carpeting, this textured area rug is small enough to be placed anywhere in the room to further define the space. And it’s a steal at the clearance price of $14.98!

Window coverings have a way of bringing the entire room together. They are also practical for privacy reasons. The simpler the better is the way to go and these classic and clean ivory curtains fit the bill.

The next time you’re thinking of updating your home space, I hope you were inspired to take another look at Pier 1 furniture!
