DIY Sugar Scrub

Spring is the perfect time to start prepping the skin for the warmer weather. I actually like to exfoliate my skin on a weekly basis throughout the year so I keep a tub of sugar scrub in a shower caddy so that it is always available. My skin tends to get dry so using a scrub really helps with sloughing off those dead skin cells and making my skin feel smooth and healthy.

I recently ran out of my usual store-bought brand so I decided to make my own. With just four ingredients, you can easily whip up a sugar scrub for yourself or as a gift for your friends.

Sugar Scrub

An all natural sugar scrub for healthy skin.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup turbinado sugar
  • ¼ cup almond, olive, jojoba, or coconut oil (liquid)
  • 20 drops essential oil of your choice (for fragrance)

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients in a bowl until well combined.
  • Fill a container with the scrub.

Notes

  1. You may adjust the amount of oil (use more or less) according to the consistency you prefer. You may also try different carrier oils and decide which you like best.
  2. To use, apply to hands, feet, and body using gentle circular motions and rinse.
  3. Please be careful while using since the oil can make your shower or bath slippery.

Making your own sugar scrub is easy, fun, and cost-effective. The best part is that it completely customizable since you can vary both the oil and the essential oils according to the season or your mood. Here are a few variations that you can try:
