Spring is the perfect time to start prepping the skin for the warmer weather. I actually like to exfoliate my skin on a weekly basis throughout the year so I keep a tub of sugar scrub in a shower caddy so that it is always available. My skin tends to get dry so using a scrub really helps with sloughing off those dead skin cells and making my skin feel smooth and healthy.
I recently ran out of my usual store-bought brand so I decided to make my own. With just four ingredients, you can easily whip up a sugar scrub for yourself or as a gift for your friends.
Sugar Scrub
Ingredients
- ½ cup turbinado sugar
- ¼ cup almond, olive, jojoba, or coconut oil (liquid)
- 20 drops essential oil of your choice (for fragrance)
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl until well combined.
- Fill a container with the scrub.
Notes
- You may adjust the amount of oil (use more or less) according to the consistency you prefer. You may also try different carrier oils and decide which you like best.
- To use, apply to hands, feet, and body using gentle circular motions and rinse.
- Please be careful while using since the oil can make your shower or bath slippery.
Making your own sugar scrub is easy, fun, and cost-effective. The best part is that it completely customizable since you can vary both the oil and the essential oils according to the season or your mood. Here are a few variations that you can try:
